There’s not a lot of places like it anymore. This business was started over 50 years ago by my grandfather and it’s just been growing steadily ever since.
It’s a great environment. The food is always the best.
It’s that New England seafood that people crave.
It’s a part of Qunicy, Mass. Now, it’s not just a restaurant, it’s become an actual part of the city.
It’s just a legendary clamshell.
And welcome to Tony’s Clam Shop.
Tony’s Clam Shop is a family run business.
We’ve been here for over 55 years. My dad came over from Lebanon. Came with nothing and he built it up with my mother, Tilly. She’s 97 now.
We grew up living here in this home which is now more restaurant than home. Upstairs for the bedrooms. So this was a kitchen sink. This actually used to be a porch. This used to be my bedroom.
Sometimes you think about it and you say I can’t believe we grew up here and our time has flown by after all these years now the young kids in our family have taken over too.
That’s Tony Kandalaft. Named right after him. It’s really great to just you know, have the first middle and last name just exactly like him. It’s it’s honoring to be honest.
Tony did a great thing starting this business and our parents have kept it going. So we’d like to keep it going even more and continue that legacy.
It’s so casual. The atmosphere is fantastic. And the view is out of this world.
You got the Boston skyline. You got the whole Quincy Bay, you got all of Hall down there, and it’s some of the best sunsets at night. You can’t beat this.
Tony Tony’s clam shop number one item in Tony’s is clams, of course.
Fried clams are the best.
They’re sweet, they’re tender, they’re very lightly fried and fresh oil all the time.
The breading is a very simple breading not very heavy, and the clams are just so sweet and fresh.
You can get them any size you want. You like big belly, they got big belly, you like small bellies, they got small bellies and you can also get no bellies at all just the plain clam strips.
I personally am a big fan of the big bellies.
I actually like small bellies and my brother likes the bigger bellies.
I’d rate them as a 10. They are they’re amazing. They’re fresh every single day people come from all over to taste these glands.
Tell me about your lobster
It’s hard shell and we do it three different ways. We do a fried lobster tail which has become very popular. There’s a lobster roll. Everybody loves it.
Our regular way that we serve. It is light light mayonnaise, I know toasted hotdog bun with about a half a pound of fresh lobster.
And we also do it warm with melted butter and that’s become more and more popular.
They’re party size.
They’re pretty pretty large actually.
Very filling. When they see it, people are pretty happy.
We have big fresh sea scallops.
The ones I buy are day boats and they will handpick them for me. They are absolutely sweet delicious. Fantastic.
They’re just big large juicy scallops.
I said one time anything cooked in the fryerolater is like steamed from the inside. So absolutely delicious. You give me a scallop, I’m happy. You give me two, I’m even happy. I love them fried. I love broiled and I love grilled. You know, they say you’re 60% water I think I’m 40% scallop.
So a seafood plate is a little bit of everything. So it’s kind of like the Pupu platter of Tony’s.
We use clams, scallops, fish, calamari.
Shrimp, french fries and homemade coleslaw. There’s a few things of everything so you get to taste the fried seafood.
The fried seafood plate is incredible.
One of the big things is the chicken kebab.
The chicken kebab is a favorite amongst most of our customers.
They love it because the way we marinate it. It’s something different than seafood,
A lot of garlic because that you won’t be kissing anybody for a couple of days.
It’s very flavorful. It’s on the grill and it’s just unique. It’s just a really nice chicken kebab. It’s not dry and it comes with a Greek salad and pita bread.
It is just out of this world.
People come to Tony’s because they love the family atmosphere. They love our staff.
People are gonna get fantastic customer service, excellent food and an all around good experience with a beautiful view.
It’s like going to Miami Beach in a way for over here. There’s so many people watching and they just absolutely love it.
The clams are great. Everything else is great. I’m not being biased even though you think you really can’t get much better than what we have.
The food here is really, really good. I never get sick of eating here and I’ve been here since I was six years old. So that tells you a little something.
It’s just a nice place. It’s a great environment. The food is always the best. It’s been a great business and you know, we love it.
