The Brass Pineapple

The Brass Pineapple in Winchendon has the menu, vision, and potential to be one of the greats.

Atmosphere(8)

Pine wood walls, fireplace, wooden tables, give this cozy lodge a comfortable feeling. Pineapple statues, candleholders, and paintings have been supplied by customers over the years.

Menu(9)

"Global cuisine" with influences from everywhere. Phantom wept at the thought of all the dishes he wouldn't be able to try.

Portions(9)

Even if you order the "small" entree portion, it's enough.

Appetizers(9)

Marvelous chargrilled chicken and artichoke sausage. Melt-in-your-mouth sea scallops are served with a curl-your-toes award-winning Cajun BBQ sauce. Fresh mushrooms stuffed with a rich and savory blend of basil pesto, garlic, cheese, herbs, and mustard.

Food and Drink(7)

Asian chicken cashew stirfry featured deliciously tender chicken but lo mein noodles that were a bit too hard. The Latin-tinged Mississippi catfish with orange-rum mojo didn't let the spiciness overpower the flavor. Pork scaloppini dijonaise was a little underdone. Tuscan stuffed eggplant roulade needed some more garlic. Exceptionally refreshing pineapple spritzer.

Desserts(10)

Spectacular chocolate ganache tort is sinfully rich with a fudge like texture and plenty of nuts. Smooth and satisfying raspberry mousse. Perfect crispy and creamy crème brulee

Service(9)

Accomodating and pleasant waitstaff. Phantom's server could answer a menu question, but she got the info quickly.

Cleanliness(8)

The dining room is clean, the bathrooms are spotless and even sweet-smelling. But the tables could be cleared quicker.

Parking(8)

Tucked away on Route 12 in Winchendon. It's a bit of trip-no matter where you're coming from. Plenty of parking.

Value(10)

Appetizers from $5-9; Large entrees between $13-25. This is GOLD pineapple food at BRASS pineapple prices.
