TGI Friday’s

TGI Friday’s

T.G.I. Friday's is a fine place for pub food and drinks. But like most chain restaurants, Phantom warns to keep it simple, stupid.

Atmosphere(8)

Friday's are generally warm, comfortable, festive, and loud. Active bar scene. Excellent handicap access at most locations.

Menu(9)

All the pub food you'd ever want, plus plenty of full meals like steak, fish, and chicken entrees. Good salad selections.

Portions(8)

Items range from average to large. Free refills on soda.

Appetizers(8)

Jack Daniels wings were very sweet and tangy. Pot Sticker dumplings, which could have been drained more, were also a pleasant surprise. Chicken gumbo had enough spice, but was light on the meat and vegetables. And don't forget, Friday's invented the loaded potato skin! Salads drenched in too much dressing.

Food and Drink(7)

Chophouse pork chop was a little dry, but served in a deliciously sweet sauce. Very cheesy cheddar potatoes. Satisfying French Dip with lean beef and sauteed onions--the au jus was average. Nice and crunchy roasted veggies. Lynchburg Lemonade and Strawberry Margarita both perfectly-mixed and very refreshing.

Desserts(8)

Crunch cake with chocolate, toffee, and crushed butterfingers is addictively sweet. Frozen Cafe Nelson (coffee, coffee ice cream, Frangelico, and Bailey's) is a light alternative.

Service(7)

Waitstaff wear the familiar red and white striped shirts and buttons on their hats. Servers tend to be young and somewhat forgetful. But outstanding and fast bartenders.

Cleanliness(7)

Dining areas are generally clean, but the dark bathrooms can get messy by the end of the night.

Parking(8)

Over 390 locations in 34 countries.

Value(8)

Appetizers range from $5-9; sandwiches runs about $7; dinner entrees average $15. Even with a couple of beers or a frozen drink, TGI Friday's is very reasonable.
