There’s one delicious roll call happening at the Roll Street Tavern.
Located on Main Street in Plymouth, Massachusetts, Roll Street Tavern is a fun spot where the good times roll, and the menu is lined with rolls with various fillings and a multitude of flavors, according to owner, Jeff Zeitz.
“I’ve always been a big fan of egg rolls. Been making them for 25 years and wanted to have some fun with food that people could enjoy and share and just have a good time.”
Jeff and co-owner, Scott Lail created a menu where nearly everything comes in roll form.
“We’re trying to serve familiar food and unfamiliar ways. So you’re going to find your favorites like steak tips and cheese. We’re going to see pizza rolls, just things you normally would eat but in a slightly different way.”
And just as fun as the menu is the space itself.
“We wanted to have a really cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The food is fun and shareable and we just wanted to have somewhere where they could come in, have lots of fun. Just a nice environment to come hang with your friends.”
When you visit Roll Street Tavern, ordering some egg rolls for the table is a must.
“Egg rolls are just a great fun vessel to eat something you get a little bit of the crunch. It can hold the ingredients really well and also it’s shareable. People love to share their food they love tapas style and it’s just a great eat.”
There are fun flavors like spicy Chicken Chimichanga packed with pulled chicken, black beans, peppers, onions and cheese and served with creamy guacamole. And check out the lobster egg roll filled with fresh shucked meat and Pimento Cheese.
“Everyone loves lobster, and everyone loves cheese and it’s just an amazing combination.”
There’s the cheesy pickle- a sour bite spiked with creamy cheese.
And the wildly popular, Steak Tip and Cheese Eggroll.
“So our steak tip and cheese is actually a little bit different than most people’s as we actually use real chunks of steak We use provolone and mozzarella in there. It’s rolled up deep fried .It’s absolutely delicious and melts in your mouth.”
Customers also crave their variety of handmade pizza rolls, including this Hawaiian version.
“We do we make a Hawaiian pizza egg roll with pineapple and barbecue sauce, pulled Pork. It’s our take on a Hawaiian pizza. It’s just takes me to a Hawaiian vacation.”
AND then there’s something called the Hot and Sweet Dog.
“Hot and sweet hotdog one is one that really surprises people. “
This glorified pigs in a blanket is gets its flavor punch from the addition of cream cheese and a hot and sweet pepper sauce.
“It’s really one of those outside the box delicious bites that you would never expect.”
For something on the lighter side, check out the lettuce wraps with fillings like fresh salmon spiked with with crasins, blue cheese, cucumber, pistachios, and avocado .
OR order some spring rolls stuffed with lobster and flavor packed garlic soy chicken.
“When you bite into a garlic soy chicken fresh spring roll, you’re gonna get a lot of Asian flavors in there. You get shredded chicken and a lot of different vegetables .. and it’s it’s a healthy, clean bite which is very different than the crunchy fried bite you would get with a traditional egg roll.”
While at Roll Street, you should also treat yourself to something called a “puff”: basically buttery, flaky shell stuffed with fillings like buffalo chicken, blue cheese, bacon and scallions. Or the classic chicken parm- smothered in sauce and plenty of cheese.
“So chicken parm puff. It is what you would expect from chicken parm you get the chicken got the tomato sauce that we make in house with all the creaminess of the cheese in there, but it’s in the puff. and it’s just fabulous.”
But the top crowd favorite has to be the cheeseburger puff.
“So you’re going to get the flavor of a cheeseburger .You’re gonna get the cheese, the meat but it’s going to be a little bit different have a texture a little bit different, but feel a little bit more buttery with a puff pastry. It’s awesome.”
Roll Street also offers stuff outside of a roll- like these shareable “cheeseburger nachos” boasting ground beef, lettuce, tomato, sriracha aioli, and plenty of pickles. Or this East West version featuring wontons topped with pulled chicken, melted cheddar, black beans and barbecue sauce. And if you’re looking for something sweet, there are boozy milkshakes blended with your favorite cookies and candies apple pie bites and the ultra addictive, interestingly named Matzo Crack Shake.
“The matzo crack is very similar to the Christmas saltines ,,,with caramel and chocolate but with matzah has a better bite to it. It’s much more crunchy. Much more interesting. “
