Ristorante Italia
Ristorante Italia in Avon, Connecticut shines for one main reason: the veal... no matter how it's served.
Atmosphere(8)
It's hard for a shopping complex restaurant to not look a little "square", but Ristorante Italia has made an honorable attempt to bring this modern room an old world feel. Enchanting music.
Menu(7)
Somewhat standard selection of appetizers, pastas, and main courses. All entrees include a house salad, vegetable, and a starch.
Portions(9)
The appetizers are sufficient.. and the entrees are ludicrously large. Easily enough leftovers for a couple days.
Appetizers(8)
Antipasto with assorted prosciutto, salami, mozzarella and sundried tomato salad was fresh and colorful. A ddictive but spicy fried calamari served with anchovies and garlic. And the grilled shrimp wrapped in prosciutto were even better.
Food and Drink(8)
This veal is the real deal...from the lemony and smooth Veal Scaloppini to the salty and rich Saltimbocca alla Romano. Inventive and creamy home made spinach fettuccine tossed with Norwegian smoked salmon. But some of the clams in Phantom's Linguine allo Scoglio were a bit suspect.
Desserts(6)
TOO MUCH COCOA. It was everywhere and on everything. If you're really craving something, get the tiramasu.
Service(7)
Very helpful and attentive waitstaff were always timely. But Phantom's waitress did take a smoke break in the middle of his meal, as was clearly evident by his acute sense of smell.
Cleanliness(9)
Not quite spotless, but Phantom's waitress made every effort to clean away finished dishes and refuse.
Parking(7)
Hidden in the back of a twelve building shopping plaza in Avon. Parking is easy enough to come by.
Value(9)
Appetizers from $4-7. Pasta and risotto's average $11. All entrees priced for less than $18. Plenty of food for the lira.
