Set in this cozy spot in Franklin, Massachusetts, Raillery Public House is a casual place serving unique comfort food with an easy going staff, like General Manager Sarah Cohen.
“We are super focused on a laid back atmosphere. We want you to come here and feel comfortable. Forget about what's going on outside, relax and just really dive into the experience.”
The menu is one of the most creative in the area- with something for everyone. And the layout of the space has lots of options too, whether you want to belly up to their stunning wooden bar, or find something more private like their ‘so-called’ snugs.
“These hide out booths over here are called our snugs. We often joke about it, if we're here late at night, we could just fall asleep on one of them, because they're super big. The bar is obviously the focal point of the restaurant. This is the heart. This is where all the conversations are going to happen and then our lounge is in the back where it's a little bit more secluded.”
The appetizers at The Raillery are no joke, with options like the Firecracker Shrimp- glazed in a housemade sweet chili sauce or the eye popping Charcuterie Pretzel.
“It is literally bigger than my head. And it's such a it's like a jaw dropping item when we bring it to the table. It comes with an assortment of meat and assortment of cheese. It's a good shareable item. You can, you can either house it to yourself if you're really hungry, or you can share it with your table.”
Another shareable is their oversized skillet nachos.
“It comes with our tricolor tortillas, jalapenos, sour cream, guac, pico de gallo and you can have your choice of toppings but my go to is a pork carnitas. It's one of my favorite dishes for sure."
Just as tasty are Raillery’s pizzas- with toppings that range from traditional- like this margherita to outrageous concoctions like the Crab Rangoon pie or this mashup of Chicken and Waffles and pizza.
“You can have this for lunch. You can do this for dinner. You can do this even for breakfast it's our handcrafted signature dough topped with our homemade waffle cut up into pieces. And deep fried chicken pieces. And it's topped with a Chipotle Honey drizzle. It's something that's super unique.”
Another crazy combination comes in the form of the PB&J Burger.
“It's a creamy peanut butter sauce with a spicy strawberry jam served over our hamburger and topped on our grilled bun. So surprisingly they..mesh really well together. You would think that this doesn't go right PB and J Burger not really going to mix. You’d be surprised. This is like melt in your mouth. All flavors collide. I've not had one disappointment with the PB and J burger.”
Other handhelds include the flavorful Mushroom Swiss Burger topped with perfectly melted cheese and this masterpiece- appropriately named the Hot Mess Chicken Sandwich- filled with buffalo chicken, and loads of cheese on Texas toast with a chipotle honey drizzle.
“You get the crunch of the toast you have the soft inside. We like to say silverware optional with this one you can dive right in, make a mess out of it with your hands. Or if you you know, need to be polite then you can use silverware too, but nobody likes that.”
There are all sorts of entrees like Chicken N Waffles, done traditionally and Blackened Chicken Pasta.
“Our blackened chicken pasta is a penne in a cream sauce served with black and seasoned grilled chicken on top sliced, and then topped with sun dried tomatoes and garlic bread.It is delicious.”
And you won't go wrong if you order the Cookie Skillet Sundae to cap off your meal.
“Oh, how can you go wrong with a cookie skillet?” This is our homemade and House cookie dough. It's gonna have all of the like crispy crunchy layer that you want on the outside and then the gooey, gooey feeling on the inside topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream chocolate drizzle, the whole nine. It makes you feel like you’re at home on your couch wrapped up in a blanket. It’s a great way to end your meal.”
