Pierponts
For businessmen (or businesswomen) on an expense account, Pierponts in the Goodwin Hotel in downtown Hartford is a solid choice.
Atmosphere(8)
Mahogany and green hues dominate this elegant club style dining room. As sight for sour eyes for business travelers staying in the hotel
Menu(8)
A handful of creative pastas along with a nice mix of chicken, fish and steak entrees. A well-balanced menu.
Portions(8)
Good sized appetizers (loads of mussels!). Entrees are right where they should be.
Appetizers(9)
Can't really go wrong with any of the selections, but "Three from the sea" stand out. Remarkable tequila spiked chilled jumbo shrimp. If you aren't getting them as an entree, try the crab cakes.
Food and Drink(8)
The "paella valenciana" comes chock full of chicken, mussels, shrimp, scallops, and sausage. Sauteed Maine Crab cakes are the real deal. Filet and sirloin are a step away from Morton's finest piece of beef.
Desserts(7)
"American Beauty" cake is simple yet sinful. Stay away from the "frozen cashew turtle mud pie." It's just some snazzed up ice cream with a catchy name.
Service(10)
You can enjoy your fine dining along with fine service. The different courses are perfectly spaced. The service is attentive and extremely professional.
Cleanliness(10)
If cleanliness if godliness, this place must be heaven.
Parking(10)
Ground-zero downtown Hartford, across the street from the Civic Center. Validated parking is available at the hotel garage.
Value(8)
Appetizers from $7-9. Entrees average about $18. This place features true expense account prices.
