Nantucket Seafood
Why take a flight or a ferry to the island when you can find Nantucket Seafood right in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Atmosphere(9)
Lots of nooks and crannies. Upstairs: three cozy dining areas, and a courtyard for alfresco dining. Brick walls, wood tables, and fresh flowers lend to the romantic atmosphere.
Menu(9)
Almost exclusively seafood, with a diverse selection of shellfish, filets, raw bar, pasta, fried dishes, and a clambake platter.
Portions(8)
The baked stuffed lobsters are 1 1/2 pounds. The portions in general are hearty enough that dessert is excessive, not necessary.
Appetizers(9)
Baked Alaskan Crab Cakes were made exceptional by the crabmeat-caper mayonnaise. Seafood chili with swordfish, scallops, shrimp and scrod was full of interesting textures and flavors. Smooth lobster bisque with a marvelous dill finish.
Food and Drink(8)
Sublime stuffed lobster packed with crabmeat, scallops, or shrimp. Phantom chose the scallop version, and was delighted to find about eight medium-sized specimens, perfectly baked. Jumbo stuffed shrimp puff pastry worked well with the sherry lobster Newburg sauce. Creamy garlic mashed potatoes; fresh Guinness.
Desserts(9)
Phantom loved the unusual and heavenly white chocolate eclair pie. Scrumptious tiramisu with a chocolate graham crust.
Service(8)
Both the host and Phantom's server constantly checked the tables to make sure everything was OK. Attentive and courteous, with a lightening-fast kitchen. But nobody brought bread.
Cleanliness(8)
Everything is well-kept and kept clean.
Parking(9)
Downtown Worcester, right across from the Centrum. Complimentary valet parking was just the ticket.
Value(8)
Appetizers range from $5-9. Fish dinners between $13-20. Two pound baked stuffed lobster goes for $36. If this were seafood on the Island of Nantucket, the prices would be double.
