Nana Cora’s
You may not have grown up in East Boston, but you'll feel like you're part of the family if you eat at Nana Cora's on Bennington Street.
Atmosphere(7)
Small and unpretentious with family photos on the wall. Lots of regulars that feel like family.
Menu(8)
Lots of veal, fish, chicken, and pasta specialties-- but why no beef? The Phantom needs at least one beef dish per meal
Portions(8)
You'll have to make the decision: "should I finish this whole meal or should I save some room for dessert?"
Appetizers(8)
Sauteed artichoke hearts very tasty. Tripe, shrimp scampi, and soups are all above average.
Food and Drink(8)
Delicately spiced high quality Veal Pizzallo with fresh tomato and garlic. Seafood selections are a bit lacking. But this Northern Italian cuisine is generally fresh and satisfying.
Desserts(7)
Limited to spumoni and very good home made cannolies.
Service(8)
They started off a little slow, but became more pleasant and attentive as the meal went on. This is a family-run restaurant. The husband cooks, the daughter waits tables, and Nana Cora herself runs the dining room.
Cleanliness(7)
The counter where drinks and salads are prepared could use some serious sprucing up.
Parking(7)
In East Boston, with angled on street parking out front, the parking can be a challenge.
Value(8)
Entrees range from $9 to $15. Very reasonable Frutti de Mare over linguini for only $15.
