Molly’s Pub

For fun dining or fine dining, Molly's Pub in Newburyport is a local favorite with an active bar and an outstanding menu.

Atmosphere(8)

Housed in an historic building from the 1800's. Main dining room is quite elegant. All dark wood in the pub setting with a great, large bar. Working fireplace adds to the charm, but it can be a bit smoky and noisy at times.

Menu(9)

Actually two menu available. Extensive pub menu with lighter fare and sandwiches. But fine dining is on the menu as well, from venison to veal. Very colorful and fun, just like the restaurant.

Portions(8)

Sharable salads. Overflowing pastas. Pork chops were large and came with enough Apple Sauce to please Johnny Appleseed.

Appetizers(9)

Thick and delicious onion soup made from their signature recipe. Shrimp Quesadilla was positively outstanding. Tons of other great choices from nachos to smoked salmon.

Food and Drink(9)

Heavenly club sandwich on six-grain bread loaded with turkey and ham. Remarkable lobster roll packed with meat. Flavorful and colorful Carmine San Diego pasta with shrimp and chicken. Extremely tender black angus sirloin.

Desserts(8)

Bananas Foster was very good... almost great. Excellent apple cranberry pie as well.

Service(8)

Very pleasant and accommodating, happy to split dishes.

Cleanliness(8)

Very dim lighting, so Phantom had a tough time trying to find dirt. But, it's relatively clean for such an old building.

Parking(8)

Center Street in Newburyport, one of Phantom's favorite dining communities. Small parking lots can be found, but not well paved and with a tricky lay-out.

Value(9)

Appetizers range from $4 to $9. Entrees only reach a maximum of $16. Even the fine dining menu is very reasonable. Thank you Molly, whoever you are.
