Luk’s Bar and Grill
Award winning wings, award winning burgers, and the only restaurant we have found in New Hampshire that serves steak on a stone. We are in a busy shopping plaza on Lowell Road in Hudson, New Hampshire, at a restaurant named Luk’s Bar and Grill. That's Luk spelled L-U-K and I feel very ‘Luky’ to be here because it's all about scratch made comfort food and outstanding value. Luk's has been around since 2019, it's a family owned and family friendly restaurant. It's operated by Jason Fiore and his wife Christine. About the nicest people in the world. They are very humble, and yet they are masters at making scratch made outstanding comfort food. This is a big place with about 250 seats throughout the dining room, a big bar, function room, outdoor patio, and it can be a lot of different things to a lot of different people. You want to come in for burgers and a beer, sit at the bar. You want to come in for a cocktail and a steak. You can do it here too. You want to bring in the kids for a pizza and some dessert. Do it right here at Luk's.
Appetizer wise, you have a choice from a cavalcade of outstanding fried foods. They have their signature fried pickle chips that are hand battered and nice and crispy. Instead of regular tater tots, they do tater kegs stuffed with potatoes, cheddar cheese, bacon, chives, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. But at Luk's, wings are definitely the thing. They are coated in their dry rub. They are baked first, and then they are fried to order. And the wings are available in all kinds of different dry rubs and sauces. The signature dry rub is great, salty, peppery garlic, they really let the true flavor of the chicken shine through. Buffalo, of course, is a big seller, and it has that perfect combination of spiciness and butteriness. For my money, the number one sauce here is their homemade honey chipotle sauce, and it has that incredible balance of stickiness, sweetness and some serious spice. Usually, I'm a blue cheese guy, but the homemade buttermilk ranch, I'm telling you, there's something magical about combining buttermilk ranch and Chipotle honey wings. What a wing.
Now let's talk about burgers. They have two different styles of incredible burgers at Luk 's, if you like to keep it old school, go for the pub style burger. This one is known as the Bronco burger. It is a half pound Angus beef burger. It's topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, onion strings and then a little bit of their house made barbecue sauce. But now they're also serving smash burgers. These are pattied every single day. And of course, for a proper smash burger, you need some onions. You take that spatula and literally smash that ground beef and the onions right into the grill. The number one seller is the OG Smash. You got a double Angus patty with onions smothered with American cheese, iceberg lettuce, pickle chips and Luk's house made burger sauce. You stack it all up in a brioche bun. The sauce is dripping, the beef is juicing, the cheese is melting, and I'm tasting. I'm jumping on the Smash burger bandwagon. This thing is killer.
If it's a cold day, if you're feeling down, this might be the ultimate comfort food mood changer, the filet mignon loaded potato. I love a good baked potato. This is one of the biggest and best I have literally ever seen. It is stuffed with a combination of bacon and cheese and peppers and onions and mushrooms. You have some demi glaze over the top, and then, of course, some filet mignon. Yes, you can have your steak and potatoes all together in one bite.
I definitely wouldn't call this restaurant a steakhouse, and yet, they serve one of the best steaks I have tasted in the past year. Just let me give you a taste of their signature Steak on a Stone. The first thing you want to do is take some of their house made gorgonzola butter and throw that right down on the stone. You can smell the gorgonzola wafting through the air, and the steak is cooking as it is sizzling in that melted butter. So you got the butter, you got the steak. You just slice right into that steak, let it cook a little bit more. You also get a couple of sauces on the side. I like to throw on some of that rich and luxurious mushroom demi glaze over the top, and to finish it off, give the steak a little dip into some horseradish cream. Apparently, this is the only restaurant in the entire Granite State that serves steak on this kind of stone. So it's gotta be worth the trip here, right? Yeah, it is.
For dessert, the number one seller by far is the chocolate chip cookie skillet. There's something so special about that piping hot, gooey cookie batter, the cool, sweet vanilla ice cream on top. You stick your spoon into this thing, and you won't stop until the whole skillet is empty. You can come in here to watch a game, you can come in here to celebrate a big occasion, or you can come in here and just stuff your face, because there's definitely a lot to love at Luk's.
