Four Sisters Diner

The Owl Diner moved to Lowell in 1951. It's now called the Four Sisters Diner, but the big owl sign still stands outside.

Atmosphere(6)

Classic diner car built in Worcester. Clientele also classic. Nice dining room attached. Juke box on the wall is a great touch: three songs for a quarter.

Menu(6)

Poor for a diner, just the basics for breakfast, but twenty-seven varieties of omelettes. Burgers, club sandwiches, dinners entrees.

Portions(6)

Omelettes two to three eggs. Limited french toast and pancake orders wouldn't fill up any self-respecting truck driver. Even though home fries were awful, Phantom was still mad that there wasn't more.

Appetizers(6)

Great bowl of corn flakes. Oatmeal a little too lumpy, but bananas with cream and sugar a nice treat. Fruit not fresh.

Food and Drink(5)

Bar none, the worst corned beef ever, and Phantom has had his share. Eggs were runny, chocolate chip pancakes not bad, orange juice watery, omelette generic.

Desserts(6)

Pecan pie a la mode okay, but the grapenut custard tasted more like oatmeal with grapenuts on top.

Service(8)

Very pleasant and informative, happy to change order, quick with food and coffee refills (refilling of coffee may be the single more important element of any diner).

Cleanliness(6)

Pretty filthy, but attached dining room is very neat.

Parking(6)

Tiny lot in front can be tough to maneuver around, about two minutes off Route 3 in Lowell.

Value(5)

Average breakfast with potatoes, toast, and coffee about $5. Prices are low, and so is the quality.
