Anejo Mexican Bistro Plymouth
Guac that gets the party started.
Tacos that steal the spotlight.
Margaritas that take center stage.
At Anejo in Plymouth, Mexican flavors and New England flair come together in one unforgettable dining experience.
“Anejo is the highest distinction of tequila. It's got complexity and it's elevated. And that's kind of where we want to take the dining experience, offer something that's a little bit more than just quick in and out. It's..a comfortable, elevated dining experience.”
This building was originally built to fight fires - and now it's here to fire up your appetite. So this new location of Anejo has transformed an historic firehouse, into a restaurant that’s definitely “en fuego”.
“It's a beautiful historic brick building retrofitted by a master ships builder. So you get this beautiful mahogany wood throughout, winding staircase right in the middle of the space.. It's really got a wow factor. It's definitely got that coastal Mexican vibe Paired with a really carefully curated Mexican menu and a very comfortable dining experience.”
Owner Jamie Surprenant grew up in the hospitality industry, his parents even owned the restaurant that once occupied this very space.
“My partner and I are restaurant people. Both grew up in the business. Both passionate about hospitality, but more importantly, passionate about Mexican food and everything about it.”
Starters here include the loaded Anejo Nachos, where every chip is layered with toppings… to dishes inspired by Coastal New England flavors like Quahogs Relleno. And of course, every meal should start with some chips and guacamole.
Made fresh every day. Avocado onion, cilantro, lime juice, salt. Every table should have guac on it. We're big fans of that family style, of having things on the table and enjoying them throughout and marrying all the flavors together, whether it's with your entree and some guacamole that you might have started with, but guac is just a great thing to have on the table. A nice, salty, warm chip paired with guacamole is just perfect. Guac gets the party started.”
And be sure to order the Chorizo Fundido for the table too.
“It's just the cheesy, melty goodness of our rajas, which is peppers and onions, and then our chorizo that's made in house. It just has a really nice spice to it. It's just cheesy deliciousness.”
Anejo puts freshness and tradition front and center, serving up Mexican favorites like enchiladas packed with bold, authentic flavor.
“Tres enchiladas is one of our house favorites. It focuses on the three core sauces in Mexican cuisine, which is the Roja, the Verde and the mole. Our mole, I think, is incredible. So you get a bite of the spicy Roja, the tanginess of the tomatillo and then that chocolate, velvety mole that’s incredible. Really best thing about that dish is that if you're looking at the menu and you and you can't decide what you want, you get a little bit of everything with that dish”.
If you can’t decide on just one taco, try the Tres Tacos for a perfect trio of taste.
“It's for the person who can't decide which taco they want. You can have the carne asada, the pork carnitas or the chicken taco. We feature a nice, soft corn tortilla with all of our tacos. And then it's just the love and care that goes into the meats, the cooking of the carne asada, the braising of the pork carnitas, and then the chicken thigh are grilled really to perfection. It's really incredible."
