Weathervane Tavern

You wouldn't expect such an incredible value in such a posh neighborhood, but the Weathervane Tavern in Hamilton is quite a bargain.

Atmosphere(8)

Small and rustic. Tends to be a bit crowded and noisy, which is fine depending on what kind of mood you're in. Lots of weathervanes on display. Phantom describes it as comfy and cute.

Menu(8)

Light pub fare featuring burgers, sandwiches, salads, chicken, and fish. Nothing fancy or unpronounceable here.

Portions(8)

Very full sandwiches. Satisfying 6 ounce burgers served with overflowing portions of salad and fries.

Appetizers(8)

Basic and limited, but certainly above average. Very good soups. Beef barley was thick and full of meat. Crispy and hearty potato skins.

Food and Drink(9)

They take pride in the fresh quality ingredients and for good reason. Excellent fish, aged beef, homemade soups, and dressings. Superb open faced Rueben. Four egg omelet with veggies and ham was cooked to perfection.

Desserts(7)

Supplied by "Sweet Streets." They're good but not extraordinary. Stick with the ice cream pie.

Service(8)

Friendly and pleasant waitstaff. The kind of waiters and waitresses who know the regulars' names and orders.

Cleanliness(8)

Pretty darn good for an old, cramped busy restaurant.

Parking(8)

Just off Route 1a in Hamilton. Parking on street should not be a problem, unless you're driving a stretched limo like the Phantom (yeah right).

Value(10)

Absolutely nothing over ten bucks! Burgers for $5. Teriyaki sirloin runs $10. A full pound of lean pork ribs is also only $10. An incredible value in a town known for its ritzy clientele.
