Major Magleashe’s

Major Magleashe's in Salem is obviously a bar room first and a restaurant second. But it's not a bad deal for your dollar.

Atmosphere(6)

Dark, dirty, and smoky... with a great view of video games and dart boards in the back. Keno is always a plus for your dining enjoyment. Tables and chairs aren't especially comfortable.

Menu(7)

This menu is not pretty, nor is it diverse. Cholesterol laden cuisine and that's about it. But the drink menu is virtually unlimited, given the fact that this is first and foremost a bar.

Portions(8)

Especially with a few appetizers, this is a tough place to finish an entire meal. Burgers are close to a half pound of meat.

Appetizers(7)

Not bad, but severely one-dimensional: fried cheese, fried chicken, fried onions, and fried potatoes. Loaded Greek salad with tons of feta, olives, and shredded carrots.

Food and Drink(7)

Typical "pub food", including burgers and sandwiches. Steak tip dinner served with a salad, fries, and onion rings was good, though the meat was a bit tough. Big and juicy hamburger cooked just as Phantom ordered. But don't put the tomato and lettuce right on the burger. Surprisingly, the food isn't very greasy.

Desserts

N/A. Perhaps a nice shot of Yaegermeister.

Service(8)

Very friendly and attentive waitstaff. Phantom's waitresses came out with one wrong plate, but took care of the problem quickly, and she was very apologetic.

Cleanliness(6)

Even for a bar, this place is a bit on the dark and dank side. Best advice for the bathroom... just hold it until you go home.

Parking(7)

Right on a very busy and confusing strip of Route 114 in Salem. On street parking and a few nearby lots.

Value(8)

Appetizers from $4-6. Sandwiches and burgers run about $6. Dinners cost approximately $8. When two people can eat decent food and drink for less than $25, it's quite a deal.
