Lou’s Restaurant

Lou's restaurant in Marshfield does little but conjure up images of the 1950's. In fact, the Phantom swears he saw Ward and June Cleaver in the next booth.

Atmosphere(6)

Nautical paraphernalia all over: lifesavers, buoys, and fishing nets. Wood paneling has long since seen prime time.

Menu(7)

Lou's is a seafood place-- plenty of lobster, scallops, shrimp and swordfish. The usual chicken, veal, and steak show up on the line up as well.

Portions(7)

Nothing to bring home, but nothing left on your plate either.

Appetizers(7)

Mozzarella sticks and potato skins were on par with the rest of the fare-- standard. Salads featured somewhat wilted lettuce.

Food and Drink(6)

Terminally hum-drum seafood fare. Shrimp Diane is usually the Phantom's favorite, but not here. It lacked both inspiration and taste. Chicken francais not quite formidable. The Sunday brunch is a bit more upbeat.

Desserts(7)

Pecan pie was smothered in not one but two scoops of ice cream, but was hardly memorable.

Service(9)

Very attentive waitstaff. Knowledgeable and professional.

Cleanliness(8)

Only obsessive compulsives would quibble.

Parking(8)

Easy to find on Route 139 East off Exit 12 on Route 3. They're not exactly lining up to eat here, so parking is easy.

Value(7)

Entrees run between $8 and $18. Sandwiches from $5.50 to $7. Standard food for standard prices.
