Fusions

Fusions

Modern American cuisine and the cuisines of the Pacific Rim countries are fused together at Fusions Global Bar and Grille in Beverly.

Atmosphere(7)

Such a funky menu deserves a more eye-catching space. Boring peach walls are spruced up with a few random pictures and one Asian tapestry. Sushi bar and smoking section available.

Menu(9)

Colorful menu is packed with a wide variety of American and Asian dishes, most of which lean towards the Asian side.

Portions(7)

Inconsistent. Entree plates are filled, but with decoration.

Appetizers(8)

Full sushi menu is very solid.. Lobster envelopes in a won-ton wrapper topped with a delicious (but pink) lobster sauce. Chicken satay much better than the overcooked beef satay. But the kakiage was exceptional. Fusion's version of an onion ring, they're infused with fresh julienne vegetables in a light tempura.

Food and Drink(8)

Black Rib Eye Steak in a garlic and soy glaze was well cooked, but the cracked black pepper covered the flavor of the meat. Veal Oceanic topped with lobster medallions and finished with Choron sauce was tender and tasty. Remarkable rack of lamb marinated in saki and lemon grass soy. Perfect rice and veggies.

Desserts(7)

The quality tiramasu was generously loaded with liquor. Chocolate Intemperance cake was rich but shamefully small.

Service(7)

Phantom's glass remained empty and his table was never wiped down. But the food came out timely and just as ordered.

Cleanliness(7)

This is messy cuisine, but there's no excuse for greasy menus or slimy bathroom floors.

Parking(8)

Street parking available at this easy-to-find location on the busy Rantoul Street in Beverly.

Value(7)

Appetizers from $4-10. Sushi is about $2 per piece and $5 per roll. Entrees average $15. You're definitely paying a few extra bucks for the fact that this cuisine is trying to be so trendy.
