The Kingston 1686 House
They don't call it the Kingston 1686 House for nothing. It was built in the year 1686 and a full meal with a couple selections from their famous wine list may cost you around one thousand six hundred and eighty-six dollars.

Kingston House offers quaint Colonial charm, with a wonderful barn and hayloft. Even the landscaping surrounding the restaurant adds to its enchantment.

About 10 seafood entrees and 10 other entrees were adequate. But the absolutely enormous wine list is almost too big. The 100 page wine list boasts a bottle of wine that sell for over $1000.

Adequate but not overwhelming.

The complimentary tray of crackers, cottage cheese, marinated mushrooms, and relish were a pleasant bonus. The baked stuffed clams were the highlight of the meal. But the shrimp cocktail wasn't fresh.

The drinks were stingy and the entrees proved to be a major disappointment. The lobster pie was tasteless and the lamb shish-kabob was tough.

The homemade strawberry shortcake was tasteless and featured frozen strawberries.

The waiters and waitresses wear period costumes from the 16 and 17 hundreds. And they act accordingly... they are slower than a dead person.

Although everything seems clean on the surface, there's a musty feel to this old house.

Located in Southern New Hampshire about 15 minutes from the Seabrook exit off I-95. Plenty of room to park your horseless carriage.

Unfortunately, this is a restaurant whose time has passed. The food just ain't what it used to be.
