Everybody loves a burger. You cant go wrong with a burger. Its easy. Its good.

Ballpark snacks like pretzels and dogs.

We just like having a hot dog on a Saturday afternoon watching a baseball game.

And a spirited hometown team crowd is what youre going to find at Tessies.

Located in Walpole Center, Tessies Bar and Kitchen is a casual baseball themed burger bar run by restaurateurs Maura and Mark McAuliffe, who also own the Mad Raven a few doors down. In their latest installment, they were inspired by their familys dedication to their beloved Boston Red Sox.

So Tessies is a family name.  Named after our youngest child. But Tessies also goes along with our nostalgic, old time baseball theme.

Were baseball family. And we love the mascot, Tessie, We go to Fenway Park all the time. And so we kind of put all those things together and came up with Tessie’s Bar and Kitchen.

So they decked the place out with exposed brick, reclaimed wood, and lots of pictures of their hometown heroes, creating a casual vibe everyone will enjoy.

I think Tessies is a fun place just to come and relax and have a burger have something to eat catch up with friends. You can have it as a date night. Theres something here for everyone.

So Phantom hit the bar in search of THE PERFECT MEAL.

Appetizers at Tessies include everything from rippable, dippable soft pretzels served with both spicy mustard and a tasty Guinness cheese sauce for dunking.  And addictive chicken wings available in several flavors like garlic herb and raspberry barbecue.  But the top dish to be your lead-off hitter, should definitely be the Buffalo Fried Cauliflower.

Its really unique. Its a flash fried cauliflower tossed in a buffalo sauce and we serve it with a Blue cheese dressing and it just melts in your mouth. You are eating cauliflower and you may not realize it.

For the cleanup hitters, Tessies house specialties are their signature burgers.

So all of our burgers are a hand formed Patty. Nothing is ever frozen. Its all natural beef. We use a smash method when cooking the burgers retain all of the juices. You get all of our burgers served on a potato bun.Theyre served warm and we have various burgers with all kinds of toppings, really unique flavors and theyre just absolutely amazing handcrafted burgers.

Theres the Holy Guacamoly piled up with fresh guac, fried jalapenos, pico de gallo and provelone.  Or this one called the Kiki with grilled tomato, and hand breaded fried mozzarella.

“The Kiki is like having sort of a bruschetta on a burger. You have arugula,  you have a tomato, you have the Tessie sauce mixed with that hand breaded mozzarella. Its an outstanding burger.  Its absolutely delicious.

The Commentator Burger will leave you speechless, piled up with crispy fried onions, cheddar and bacon. But the must order is the Tessie Burger, topped with their addictive onion bacon jam.

The Tessie, with your onion bacon jam is just a spectacular burger. A lot of customers in here have told me I should put the jam in a jar and sell it in stores.

The bacon jam has a kind of a sweet and salty taste to it. Its an onion and and maple blend. So for those of you that like a sweet and salty blend, its the perfect mix.

The other all-stars on Terries roster are their oversized chopped salads.

All of our salads are served in a big bowl. But whats really unique here at Tessies is we serve our salads chop style. So you dont have to work.

You can just let the fork do the work. You dont have to go to work when you buy a salad. The salad there.  The dressing is tossed. Its its chopped and you dont have to do anything. You can just eat it.

Meatlovers will want to order the Main Street Salad with marinated sirloin tips, red peppers, tomatoes, crumbled bleu cheese and crunchy fried onions in a chipotle aioli. And Theres your classic Cobb with grilled chicken, smoked bacon, avocados, tomato, corn and bleu cheese in a honey cherry bacon vinaigrette. But if you ask these owners, nothing beats the Beet Salad.

I love the beet salad. The beet salads a blend of traditional red beets and golden beets and we add pistachios to it which gives it an amazing crunch. We have a lemon vinaigrette on it. So its a little bit tangy and its really refreshing.

Of course Tessies has other offerings, like Baked Mac in Cheese made with a four cheese blend and topped with buttery ritz crackers and a fried chicken sandwich served on a pretzel roll with honey mustard sauce.

You have a pretzel roll with the honey mustard sauce, sort of honey mustard and pretzel go hand in hand and the chicken. Its moist. Its crispy. It just all works together.

But since youre at a baseball themed bar, a hot dog would make the most sense, so order yourself a so-called Harry Dog.

So the harry dog is an all beef hot dog. We serve it on a potato hot dog bun. And its just absolutely great thing to sit at the bar and have a hairy dog watching a game and a cold pint of beer.

And before you head home, youll want to try some of Tessies desserts.  Theres the Irish Cream Cheesecake served over a chocolate drizzle with whipped cream&.and a sweet and satisfying root beer float, thats great for kids and even better for adults.

We do at root beer float, which is really nostalgic. And we pour a nice cold root beer into delicious premium vanilla ice cream or you can get it adult style and add a little bit of vanilla vodka.
