Tavern At Tower Square

Set in a converted brick edifice from the days of yore, The Tavern at Tower Square in North Attleboro stands out for its ambiance, not its cuisine.

Atmosphere(9)

Exposed brick with dark paneling, brass rails, hanging ferns, and expansive windows give the Tavern a unique and comfortable atmosphere. The bar is both intimate and lively.

Menu(8)

Sandwiches, seafood, steak, and chicken from the grill. Pasta and several specials for filet mignon, haddock, and more.

Portions(8)

The Phantom didn't quite clear his plate, although he could have forced himself to if he really loved the food.

Appetizers(7)

Grease is the word on the fried onions. Calamari long on the sesame oil and garlic and short on the squid.

Food and Drink(7)

The shrimp scampi was judged a winner but the Jambalaya was hardly Super Bowl caliber. Eggplant lasagna was less than excellent. Surf and turf with prime rib and jumbo fried shrimp was highly mediocre. Pete's Wicked Winter Ale on tap refreshing.

Desserts(9)

Apple strudel pie was absolutely top notch.

Service(9)

The waitress was courteous, kind, and cheerful. Also knew exactly when to bring appetizers, salads, and entrees.

Cleanliness(8)

Perhaps not next to godliness, but it's somewhere in the vicinity.

Parking(8)

Easily accessible from 95 and 295, two miles north from the Emerald Square Mall on Route One in downtown North Attleboro. Parking is plentiful.

Value(8)

Appetizers from $3 to $7. Entrees run between $8 and $16. You get what you pay for, decent food in charming surroundings.
