Roundabout Diner & Lounge
“We’re 50 style diner, but we like to say we have a modern twist to it.”
“I want to come here every day and eat pie.”
“We have all the diner classics, all the breakfast staples, and we do the chicken pot pies, the meatloaf dinners but then we also have our 15 hour smoked pulled pork, we boil boiler our own corned beef and you know all that kind of stuff that makes us unique.”
“The beauty of the Roundabout is they serve breakfast all day. So if you want some blueberry pancakes at night, come on in. You want a burger, he wants some appetizers, everything’s available on the menu. Of course I come in for breakfast most often. Now, if you ask me my number one all time favorite brunch dish is the Monte Cristo sandwich. It’s the ultimate combination of breakfast and lunch and not a lot of restaurants do it. So if I see it on the menu, I’m going to order it and let me tell you right now, nobody does a monte cristo better than the Roundabout.”
“You kind of get that sweetness just from the French toast and the powdered sugar but then that maple syrup if you’d like this we need to get that little extra kick there.”
“So this is thick cut sourdough bread that is sandwiched around some thick cut smoked ham and some melted Swiss cheese all griddled and some French toast batter so it gets warm and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It has breakfast, it has lunch, it has salty, it has sweet, it has home fries on the side. That’s a Monte Cristo done right.
When they’re going for breakfast at a diner what could be more perfect and more ideal than a nice plate of French toast. This is the cinnamon swirl French toast, a beauty to behold.”
“Got this thick piece of cinnamon you literally had swirling through the middle of the bread and I mean people have it and they’re hooked.”
“You’re talking about super thick cut Cinnamon Swirl bread from When Pigs Fly which makes some of the best bread in all of New England. It is battered in a Grand Marnier cinnamon batter so it is cut super thick. It has nice powdered sugar on top you add on some fresh fruit. It is crispy on the outside super fluffy on the inside and there is cinnamon in every single ounce of this thing all the way through and I like to load it up with some syrup. And I mean a lot of real deal Vermont maple syrup. Oh baby.
If you’re a big eater who wants a big flavor, you gotta get the breakfast burrito.”
“So basically we wrap up some pulled pork cheese and tortilla lay it over a bed of home fries.”
“They actually grilled the tortilla they top it with some of their famous lumberjack chili, little bit of sour cream, some scallions that’s a burrito for breakfast, and it’s a lot of food. This baby is a beast. I mean just tackling this thing is an effort. This is a lot of food for breakfast. And you’re still sitting at home eating a bowl of cereal. That’s lame. What’s wrong with you? You gotta get some like this tender. Sweet, flavorful, awesome. Just awesome. Flat out amazing burrito.
Real breakfast lovers love Benedicts and they definitely know how to do eggs Benedict right here at the Roundabout. My favorite without a doubt is the corned beef hash Benedict. They are famous for their corned beef at the Roundabout Diner. Listen if you come in for lunch or dinner a lot of people are getting their famous corned beef Reuben which is incredible. They make their own corned beef right here in house.”
“So our hash we do we boil our own corned beef in house and then we just crisp it up on the griddle and put cage free poached eggs and Hollandaise on top. It’s my favorite Benedict. I love the salty flavor so that that’s the one that yet for sure.”
“This ain’t your typical Benedict. This is an extraordinary Benedict and every layer is perfection. The big jumbo sized English muffin, the crispy homemade corned beef hash, perfectly poached egg beautiful velvety nice and jiggly Hollandaise sauce, I’m telling you right now every single bite is perfection.
Now let’s talk about dessert. Can you think of any diner in New England that hires not only one full time pastry chef but two of them? They do here at the roundabout they make all of their own desserts every single day gigantic layer cakes, incredible pies and their world famous banana cream pie.”
“The banana cream pie has definitely been one of our signature items. It sells itself.”
“Super fluffy cream, not too sweet at all. Little bit of savory super fresh bananas on the bottom with a little bit of crunch from the pie crust. This is a rare dessert that I will drive 100 miles just to get it that is a banana cream pie done right.”
“If you like diners, so got a little bit of everything here. Everything’s made in house. Everything’s made fresh from scratch. Our motto is we’re the best food around so like we’re the place to.
“So if you’re looking for an extraordinary breakfast, you can search all around and around New England or you can just stop when you’re heading around the Portsmouth traffic circle and you can load on up at the Roundabout Diner, my kind of place.”
