Originally built in 1931 and restored in 1987, the Quaker Diner in West Hartford, Connecticut serves a fresh breakfast that befits any budget, no matter what time you arrive.

The diner is housed in a building first built in 1931. Its non-smoking dining room has six booths and about twenty chairs at a long counter. Get there early!

A classic diner menu which includes plenty of eggs, French toast, pancakes, and side items. A nice breakfast specials menu also includes Raisin French Toast and Cheddar Home Fries.

Although not all breakfast dishes come with sides, there's typically more food than can fit onto the plate. Phantom was full.

Prepared in a fresh egg batter, the thick French Toast was golden brown and went well with an extra side of crisp bacon. The three egg Spanish omelet served with salsa both inside and out was as fluffy and light as could be, and accompanied by toast and a hearty helping of home fries.

A friendly and courteous staff with many years experience accommodated all of Phantom's requests and served the meal in a timely but unhurried manner.

Almost entirely spotless not only in the eating areas, but in the plainly visible food preparation area as well.

Park Road, West Hartford. Two miles from West Hartford Center with a small attached parking lot and on street parking.

Value(9)

Breakfast specials run about $5 each. Simpler eggs plates, omelets, French toast, and pancakes cost about $3.50. A hearty breakfast with a light bill.
