Oliveira’s Steak House
Dave Andelman: “Nothing beats all you can eat meat. I mean unlimited steak, chicken, sausage, every meat you can think of. So when I really want to chow down, I go to Oliveira’s Steak House in Somerville. Brazilian style rodizio restaurant means you sit there and they bring 18 kinds of meat right to your table. They slice it off and you put it right on your plate. And you choose whatever it is that you want, as much as you want.
Steak, chicken, pork, lamb, sausage, you name it, they got it. When it comes to meat, they can’t be beat. You know this is great quality because when you go in the kitchen, you see all the rotisseries spinning around with the various kinds of meat, sealing in their own juices and you can just smell it and see it and you know how good it is going to be.
If you’rve never dined like this before, after you sit down, they give you the opportunity to go up to the cold buffet or the hot buffet. And after you’ve had everything that you want up there, you sit down. And then, the all you can eat experience begins all you have to do is show them this. And that’s when they start bringing the skewers of meat right to you.
To me, this is like interactive dinner theater. They’re going to wheel around these huge cuts of beef. And I’m going to use this to take everything that I want until I can not eat anymore. Buffets don’t get any better than this. Yes, this is the first thing that I got. This is steak infused with cheese. They put little holes in it so they can put cheese inside. Give me a piece of medium rare, will you? I love this because I can order it well done, rare, medium rare, medium. He’ll get you whatever you want.
This picanha, Brazil’s most famous cut of beef. It’s top sirloin. Can I get a piece of medium rare please? That is a really delicious, flavorful, perfectly cooked steak. I think this might be the best item on the menu: the beef ribs, yes sir! These are giant, beefy ribs, crispy on the outside, and so moist on the inside. Mmmm is that good.
The meat is really delicious here because it’s high quality and they cook it on the rotisserie and they top it with just a little sea salt. So you can really taste that steak flavor. You go back into that kitchen, it is like a ballet of food. They’re rotisserie cooking 18 different meats, sending it out for the customers in a perfect rotation so you get a chance to try everything nice and hot and fresh. They do something unusual here, they don’t have it all Brazilian places, a whole lamb chop. Yes sir I will definitely have at least one of those.
If all you can eat red meat isn’t necessarily your thing, and I don’t know why it wouldn’t be, they do have some other offerings like this chicken wrapped in bacon. Now this is something unique that also helps digestion, this should do a little more than red meat, pineapple cooked on a rotisserie. Yes sir I will definitely try that. So good, you wouldn’t think of cooking pineapple especially on a rotisserie, but it really adds to the flavor of the pineapple. I think it brings out the sweetness even more. I guess you can go to a regular steakhouse and get a regular baked potato. Or you can come here and get a side of rotisserie pineapple.
Now after a Brazilian meal, you are so full, you can’t even make it to the bar. So what they do is they bring you the booze mobile. All kinds of drink choices including the cachaça infused pineapple. Very sweet, very pinappley. Very good ending to all this meat eating.
Bruno my man, I give up. I’ve had enough. If you want to really do something different, tasty, and definitely filling, come to Oliveira’s in Somerville.”
Bruno Oliveira: “David thank you very much for coming. And I wait for all of you guys here. Come to visit us.”
