Mirasol’s Cafe
When the line is this long.
“When you first look at it, it’s pretty daunting, but we’re pretty efficient with it.”
You know the coffee must be strong, but here, the drink of choice is
known as “The Chippi.”
“Chippi is like a supped up coffee. It’s like coffee milk on steroids.”
“It’s like a coffee milk shake but with caffeine so it keeps you awake”
“It’s diesel coffee.”
“I can only have it in increments.”
“There’s nothing else in this area like it.”
And you can find the Chippi only at Mirasol’s Cafe.
Located in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Mirasol’s Cafe is a fun, funky laid back spot serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
“It’s a little eclectic mom and pop. I like to say it’s a worldwide franchise of one. It’s a nice mix of comfort. Nice mix of service. Nice mix of food and your caffeine needs of course.”
Owner Richard Romero has created a casual spot known for tasty pressed sandwiches, outstanding baked goods, and of course, the Chippi.
“Chippi is our supercharged iced coffee. It’s like a melted coffee ice cream. But with a good amount of caffeine in it. It’s almost like a dessert, I’d say. It’s almost like a coffee frappe in a way. It has a thickness, the richness to it. You taste the sweetness. You the taste the full body, the coffee in the background. And then a little later, you start getting a little hyper and you kind of kind of know this a little bit of caffeine it it. We make it in the kitchen. Secret process and then we send it up front for the ladies to pour out. We serve it cold all the time. That’s the only way we serve it cold over ice. It’s a nice little coffee elixir.”
In fact, this drink is in such high demand, customers come from all over and line up for it.
“When you first look at it, it’s pretty daunting, but we’re pretty efficient with it. It’s a good wait, but not that long of a wait. Because we’re pretty efficient, we get through the line really quick. It can it can be a little scary for you to look up and see how deep it is. But luckily, we pre-make it and we’ll send it out. We make it so simple and efficient. Staff, all they have to do is just put some ice down and just put it right out. Put a lid on and slide it over to the customer.”
Of course, you’ll want something to snack on with your Chippi, and at Mirasol’s they offer tons of tasty pressed sandwiches. You could kick your day off with the Cuban Sunrise Tortilla, stuffed with roast pork, ham, cheese and a fried egg. Or with the go for the Gaucho Breakfast Sandwich loaded up with Chilean Steak, a fried egg, turkey bacon and Swiss. And then there’s the Huevos Ranchero Tortilla.
“We have a nice 12 inch flour tortilla, sour cream, Monterey jack and cheddar cheese. Our black bean and corn salsa player with a nice fresh fried egg, some guacamole and some more cheese. We’ll fold it up. Let everything melt and heat up. You have a little bit of heat to it. A little bit coolness with the sour cream and cheese. It’s just a really good breakfast sandwich.”
For some really great lunch sandwiches, opt for the Cubana Spice which has all the taste of a Cuban, with a twist.
“We do a little bit different we use a little pork loin, ham, Swiss cheese and the big difference is we don’t use the pickles but however we use a marinated onion which I think gives a little different flavor to it. I think just the combination of the pork, the tomatoes, the lettuce. It’s such a good sandwich.”
There’s a turkey club, served in a wrap with turkey bacon, lettuce and tomato. And something called the Peruana loaded up with marinated chicken breast, jalapeno cream and veggies for the perfect bite.
“You taste a little bit of the herbal spice, a little bit of the heat from the jalapeno cream that we add to it. And then the cool down with the lettuce and tomato….We tried to hit all different facets of like the heat, the coolness of it and also has to be a little bit messy and one of those like little grab the half a sandwich and we just can’t put it down.”
Meatlovers will want to get their hands on the Chilena packed with seasoned steak, smoked gouda, avocado spread and string beans.
“You get a little bit of the heat from from steak. Little bit of a chill in the guacamole spread and tomatoes. So it’s a nice combination of French, the protein, the cheese and it’s actually really really really good sandwich.”
And for vegetarians, there’s the Sexy Asparagus.
“It’s a labor of love because we have to peel the asparagus. We marinate it and then we grill it and then we’ll serve it with a little bit smoked gouda, tomatoes and avocado spread, sexy because a little hot, spicy. So there’s quite a few flavors, quite a few textures going on.”
And whether it’s a sandwich, a sweet or a chippi, the next time you need to fuel up, you can just line up at Mirasol’s Cafe.
