Kith & Kin
If you ask these restaurant owners what you should order, they may tell you to get one of everything.
“French onion soup is near and dear to my heart.”
“We love Bloody Marys.”
“Who doesn’t love a burger?“
“I mean, how can you go wrong with the house made cookie?”
Because pretty much EVERYTHING on the menu is a must when you’re at Kith and Kin.
Located in Hudson, Massachusetts, Kith and Kin is the lifelong dream for owners Joe and Amanda Boudreau.
“Kith and Kin is a neighborhood restaurant that my wife and I opened up. The name comes from an old English verbiage of neighbors, friends and family. My husband is a chef and he just pours his whole heart and soul into this place. And you can tell by the food that he puts out that is truly made with thought. and with care.”
And all of that heart and soul is poured into the family-friendly atmosphere the couple created AND in the a globally-inspired menu.
“I like to describe it as relaxed but sophisticated comfort food. So we like to pull from all over the world, but also just some nice hearty delicious food.”
There are many great ways to start a meal at Kith and Kin with options like spicy and shareable Bang Bang Shrimp. A trio of Wonton Tuna Tacos finished with some grilled street corn and a little bit of that chipotle aioli and something called Provoletta.
“Provoletta is an Argentinian dish. It’s a piece of provolone cheese that’s grilled and has a nice crust on top is some little bit of crushed pepper and some fresh herbs. And that’s certainly a cast iron dish with some grilled bread.”
“I like to just get the bread right in there and scoop it. You get some of that chimichurri, that nice spice but with the lime and it’s nice and refreshing. It’s gooey. It’s like eating string cheese out of a cast iron dish. It’s definitely different.”
The gooey cheese also makes an appearance on Joe’s slow cooked French Onion Soup.
“He has the nice melty cheese, it’s a little bit crusty. The crotons he makes in house so they’re still crunchy when they’re come to your table. It’s so good, rich, hearty, the best french onion soups I’ve ever had.”
After the apps, you’ll want to dig into hearty entrees like this perfectly Grilled Pork Chop served with seasonal veggies or the hearty Short Rib Gnocchi.
“So Joe makes an amazing gnocchi. He braises the beef with a creamy little pillows of love of gnocchi with some shaved brussell sprouts and butternut squash and it’s just like an amazing delicious dish. One of those that like warms your soul and not just your belly. It’s delicious.”
And their big portion of meatloaf that will beat anything you had growing up.
“Just the way that it cooks there’s so much moisture, and it’s delicious. The potato gratin that it’s over is to die for with some brussel sprouts, bacon and then a local mushroom gravy. I think all those different components that are so fresh and local, and just made with so much attention and care is what really sets the meatloaf apart. And it’s not just your grandma’s meatloaf.”
In fact, this meatloaf is SO good, it’s made its way onto the sandwich section of the Kith and Kin menu as well.
“Meatloaf was one of the meals as a child that I loved because when my dad made meatloaf, I would always get a meatloaf sandwich leftover for school lunch the next day.
Fast forward many many years. Here we are.”
Something truly special that Kith and Kin offers is brunch 7 days a week. So you can start with a bacon appetizer served with Hudson Hives Honey- grown right on the premises and then fill up on a tremendous Steak Benedict.
“It’s very simple grilled salt pepper, served over English muffin that’s from Stone and Skillet. We use caramelized onions, melted blue cheese, poached eggs Hollandaise it’s it’s definitely a big rich dish. It’s good for that Sunday hangover”
And If you need a hair of the dog that bit you, get a Bloody Mary.
“We love Bloody Marys. So we got some fun Bloody Mary pads, you can choose different rims, you can just different podcasts, you can put gin, tequila, scotch. And then you can just add in all these kind of fun add ons. The world is your oyster.”
There are fluffy waffles topped with options like fresh strawberries and whipped cream.
Smashed peanut butter cups with chocolate syrup and this spin on a S’more. There are also tasty arepas with spicy chorizo or the truly unique, Breakfast Gnocchi.
“It’s made with bacon lardons with spinach and then these imported roasted tomatoes that are amazing and then top with fried eggs and Hollandaise sauce and It’s just a rich, delicious comfort on a plate dish that is unique and different. And it’s delicious.”
And no matter what time of day you’re here, you must end your meal with Kith and Kin’s Warm Cookie Sundae.
“It’s a fresh baked cookie with warm ice cream, chocolate sauce, whip cream. It’s the perfect way to end your already comfy cozy meal.”
