Located in Attleboro Massachusetts, Don & Gigi’s is a warm, welcoming spot filled with checkered tablecloths, old school photos, and old world charm. Where owner Gigi Tiliakos is an ever-present friendly face in the dining room, making sure customers always feel comfortable.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “We want you to feel like you’re in Nonna’s kitchen. When you come here, you sit with us, you’re a part of the family. Hospitality is really important to us. We want you to enjoy your company. We want you to enjoy your time here.”
And of course, you’ll also enjoy the food. Because Gigi has spent her entire life in restaurants.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “I grew up in the business. Our recipes have been handed down for generations. I mean, these recipes gotta be 100 years old. Really authentic food. We have a great value, you get a lot for your money here. Huge portions. The food’s delicious here.”
To start your meal at Don & Gigi’s, there’s fresh bread with garlic oil for dipping. And all the appetizers you crave, like homemade meatballs topped with San Marzano tomato sauce, and gooey Fried Mozzarella.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “It’s a rich, homemade mozzarella stick. It’s not just a frozen, something that you got from the grocery store. It’s nice and crispy on the outside, but when you break it apart it’s nice and cheesy and soft. It’s really good.”
But surprisingly, the most popular way to kick off your meal here is with the Portuguese Calamari.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “I know this is an Italian restaurant, but this Portuguese calamari is a superstar. So we take the traditional calamari pan fried, and then the chef sautés it with little chorizo, peppers, onions, a dash of that marinara, all sauteed together, comes out, it’s like the perfect amount of flavor and kick. Just a little kick. And it’s really wonderful. I mean, people love it. They say it’s the best they’ve ever had.”
When it comes to entrees at Don & Gigi’s, comfort food fills the plates, from the golden pan-fried sauce and cheese smothered Chicken Parmigiana, to the big beautiful bowl of Fettuccini Bolognese.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “Fettuccine Bolognese is my favorite. It’s our traditional fettuccine pasta. Ground beef, veal pork. The sauce has a dash of cream for richness. It’s full, it’s rich, it’s filling. It’s just like an explosion of flavor in your mouth. It’s really delicious.”
Another delicious classic here is the Linguine and Clam Sauce, loaded with fresh littlenecks. And if you prefer a pizza, the Margherita is a must order.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “Our pizza is fantastic. It’s a nice thin crust. It’s a little crispy on the bottom. The perfect amount of sauce and a perfect amount of a blend of mozzarella and provolone cheeses. It’s a great bite.”
But when it comes to a true show stopper, nothing beats the Pork Chop Milanese.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “Pork Chop Milanese is one of our most popular dishes. It’s a bone in pork chop, pounded out thin. It’s huge. It’s breaded, it’s pan fried, it’s served with a mixture of broccoli rabe with cannellini beans and cherry tomatoes. It’s like overflowing the plate. It’s really plate filling. It’s a wow dish here. It’s one of those dishes when it comes out, people are like ‘wow’.”
Customers are also blown away by the Frutti di Mare.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “Our Frutti di Mare is also another dish that’s like a wow factor when you get it. We use the freshest seafood. I mean our seafood is delivered here fresh every day. It comes with shrimp, calamari, clams and mussels. It’s all sautéed in our San Marzano marinara with a dash of white wine. It’s mouthwatering.”
The portions here are huge, but Gigi says that shouldn’t stop you from ending your meal with something sweet, like the warm Bread Pudding Sundae.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “You have to save room for dessert here. The bread pudding we make in house. It’s warm. It’s sweet and delicious. Top it with a scoop of ice cream, homemade whipped cream, a little caramel sauce. It’s fantastic.”
Or you could opt for the classic Cannoli, filled fresh to order, ensuring the shell always stays crispy.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “If a cannoli is sitting around for a long time, the shell gets soft, it’s gross. We make every cannoli to order.”
And it’s those types of touches that make a meal at Don & Gigi’s memorable.
Gigi Tiliakos – Owner, Don & Gigi’s: “You gotta come check us out. It’s a fun atmosphere. It’s comfortable. The food is great. The food is fresh. It’s plentiful. You’ll have a great time. It’s a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We’d really love to have you here.”
