Dave’s
Newport, Rhode Island is a great town-- and not just in the summer. Newport is charming, fun, and has some top notch restaurants like Dave's on Thames Street.
Atmosphere(8)
The decor is classy, but it's a bit cramped in here. Musical paintings adorn the walls.
Menu(8)
9 pasta selections, 6 sandwiches, seafood, chicken ,and steak. They could use a larger wine list.
Portions(8)
Its rare that a plate this big would not be enough. But the food is good enough that you'll want more.
Appetizers(9)
Check out the focaccia bread pizza of the day-- it easily serves two. Mussels provencal are scruptious. Top notch lobster ravioli. Interesting grilled Buffalo chicken tenerloins.
Food and Drink(9)
Outstanding fresh and tastyy ingredients in every dish. Amazing pasta sauces. Seafood is of the highest quality. Top your steak with sauteed mushrooms-- they're soaked in garlic and butter and are simply incredible.
Desserts(8)
Several fresh daily selections. They're very good, but not made on the premisis.
Service(8)
Phantom got recruited off of the street by a charming hostess. The waiter anticipated the Phantom would want more bread to dip in his mussels appetizers.
Cleanliness(10)
More sparkling than the Phantom's wing-tips.
Parking(8)
Right on the legendary Thames Street in Newport. Great spot for shopping and people watching. But parking can be very tough, although it's easier in the off-season.
Value(8)
Entrees for around $13 to $18. Sandwiches for $6 or $7. The Phantom paid the check with a smile on his face.... YEAH RIGHT!
