CRACK’D Kitchen & Coffee
Some say the egg is the perfect food. Therefore an egg sandwich may just be the perfect sandwich. And no one makes egg sandwiches quite like Crack'd.
Brand new to Andover Mass, Crack'd Kitchen & Coffee is elevating the egg sandwich from fast food to fine food.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "We wanted to create a breakfast sandwich that the community deserved. Fresh bread, fresh eggs, great local cheese. When you dive into that breakfast sandwich, we want you to be wowed by that experience."
Danny Azzarello hatched up the concept for Crack'd about a year ago, and the idea was simple, to help people start their day the right way.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "In the morning, what are you looking for? You're looking for someone to make you a lot happier than you were when you woke up. And so coming to Crack'd allows you to do that. It's the first person you see, it's the first thing you're drinking, it's the first thing you eat. It should be the best thing that you should have the entire day."
And it's served in a fast casual atmosphere that's bright, cheery, and welcoming. With egg shaped lights, a big chicken on the wall, and a bustling open kitchen.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "We wanted it to be fun. We want it to be open, inviting, all of our kitchen is completely wide open for you to see us cooking every single day. You walk in, you have the smells, you see the visual, you get greeted by our great employees. And so for us it was really just about, let's keep it fun, and let's keep it casual, and that's what we did."
Crack'd opens early every morning, and while breakfast can be busy, the lunch rush here is a real scramble.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "It's madness. I mean, we see anywhere between three to four hundred people a day, most of that is between the 11 o'clock and one o'clock hour. So right now we've got a good lunch rush coming on. We've got eggs coming over from here. SoCal, Country Classic. Stacy's manning the grill, I've got Johnny, Irene, Denise are doing sautes, mac and cheese bowls, egg and taters, sunny chorizos. All of our grain bowls, our cobb salad, our CKC, there's a lot going on but it's exciting."
Of course egg sandwiches rule the roost here, like the 'Live Free or Die' made with grilled buttered brioche from Iggy's, a cage-free egg from Maine Family Farms, Cabot Cheddar Cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, and house made ketchup.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "You're going to get that warm, fluffy feeling of that brioche, and then you're gonna get that nice egg texture with that nice flavor. Also you get that smokiness from the bacon and that spiciness and sweetness from the ketchup. All together delivers an incredible breakfast sandwich."
Another favorite is 'The Porker', with maple mustard, caramelized onions, and house made sausage made from a family recipe.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "The Porker is my dad's recipe. Maple syrup, ground espresso, a little bit of crushed red pepper, really gives you a great texture and flavor on that sausage."
Breakfast sandwiches are only the beginning at Crack'd. They also griddle up fluffy Pancakes, blend healthy Acai Bowls, and craft a tasty Avocado Toast.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "Everybody loves avocado. For us it was all about keeping it simple. And so ours is smashed avocado, toasted cauliflower, a touch of feta and then we top it off with Honey Sriracha."
For a healthy take on hash, try the Sunny Chorizo Bowl.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "Sweet potatoes roasted, with a little bit of paprika. We sauté that with grape tomatoes and spinach, topped with a sunny side egg, feta cheese, and scallion. And once you have it, you're always going to want it."
If a breakfast burrito is more your style, the Surfside keeps things light with scrambled egg whites, and arugula, in a whole wheat wrap, while 'The Big Commute' takes things in a different direction.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "The Big Commute. I gotta tell you, it's definitely big and it was all meant for when you're driving down 93, you can kind of have that Commute in your hand and you're driving right down to Boston. Fresh scrambled eggs, Applewood smoked bacon, maple ham, scallions, cheddar cheese, Crack'd ketchup, a hash brown inside the burrito itself. You're going to be stuffed for most of the day."
You can also get a Hash Brown on its own, but insiders know to order it 'loaded'.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "You might not find this on the menu, but we have a little underground item. We take our hash browns, we top it with our mac and cheese sauce, with applewood smoked bacon and scallions. It's an underground menu, don't tell a lot of people, but I tell you once you get them you're not gonna want to go anywhere else."
Crack'd serves breakfast all day, and they expand the menu at lunch, with grilled chicken sandwiches, like the So-Cal Deluxe with avocado and arugula. Plus awesome burgers, like the 'Deano The Butcher', deliciously dripping with melted cheddar, a runny egg, and special sauce.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "It's definitely not a neat burger, no. You're not gonna be able to eat it with a fork and knife, but you're gonna want to take a good bite on that sandwich for sure."
If you're in the mood for comfort food, Crack'd has creamy Mac and Cheese, made with egg noodles of course.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "Since when have you ever had Mac and Cheese with egg noodles? But it fits our brand and our concept, gives you that nice structure and that texture you're looking for. And our Mac and Cheese is one of the tops."
And the top one on the menu is definitely the BBQ Mac, with pulled pork, espresso barbecue sauce, scallions, and breadcrumbs.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "When you get all those flavors in one bite, that creaminess, that cheddar cheese, the pulled pork, the wide egg noodle, the breadcrumb, the scallions. I mean, how can you go wrong?"
Actually you can't go wrong, because a meal here really is all it's cracked up to be.
Danny Azzarello - Owner, CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee: "For us, it's all about fresh quality food, convenience and great hospitality. We're only as good as the last plate we put out, and I think every plate we put out is pretty fantastic."
