There's a lot of memories and create here whether it's the first ice cream cone or first date.

This is one of the first restaurants I can ever remember going to as a little kid and honestly, not much has changed over the years. They have amazing comfort food and killer ice cream sundaes. So let's get a taste of Cabot's in Newton.

This place has been around for over 50 years and it looks like it's straight out of the 1950s. I mean not much has changed at all. But what makes it so special is that this is a family owned and operated establishment that's been run by the same family the whole time. The Prestejohn family including the senior of scooping himself, Joe Prestejohn.

My parents came here at 1969 we've been here 52 years I grew up working here I said when I was 10 years old, we haven't changed anything. It's like stepping back into the 50s or 60s. We keep it that way purposely because you know it's nice to step back in time a little.

At some restaurants you have to eat dessert first and this is one of those places.

Danielle's Choice is the number one selling sundaes we have is peanut butter cup ice cream with peanut butter hot fudge marshmallow and Reese's Pieces and if I'm not mistaken I think that might be Danny's favorite.

This is the sundae I have been ordering a Cabot's since I was a little kid This is the Danielle's choice sundae. I think they should change the name to Daniel's choice because it is my choice and as every sweet treat that I love. They say peanut butter and chocolate are two great tastes that taste great together. Well that's doubly true when you talk about an ice cream sundae. It's served with an extra long spoon because you get to get all the way to the bottom to get all the layers of all the chocolate and all the ice cream and all the marshmallow. Everything you want in an ice cream sundae in one beautiful glass goblet. Yep.

Everybody loves eating at Cabot's. Young people. Old people. The only people who don't love it here are dentists. Because this is the dentist disaster sundae.

The dentist disaster that's all the candy flavored ice cream so hot fudge and caramel.

So it has snicker bar ice cream. It has toffee crunch with Heath Bar. It has Milky Way ice cream and peanut butter cup ice cream along with hot fudge, caramel sauce, whipped cream and Reese's Pieces candies. I don't care if I get a cavity, a root canal and I got to get braces. Nothing's gonna stop me from taking a bite of this sundae.

Make that two bites... Maybe three. The caramel is crushing it on this. Whoa. That's some of the best caramel of all time. Incredible.

I don't know about you, but I like to start my day with a nice healthy breakfast like a Belgian waffle ice cream sundae. Thick, crispy Belgian waffles topped with a big old scoop of vanilla ice cream, some strawberry sauce, lots of whipped cream, lots of crushed nuts and a cherry on top. See this has all of the protein and nutrients you need to get you through a day. Actually doesn't have any of that. But does taste really good. Strawberries are healthy though, right.

So ice cream is what made Cabot's famous but their food is super underrated. You can come here for breakfast, lunch or dinner and it is all made fresh homestyle old school comfort food.

Mama's homemade chicken noodle soup is the simplest thing to make but boy, it's good.

This is homemade big chunks of veggies in there. big chunks of chicken some nice ribbons of noodles, excellent chicken broth with lots of depth of flavor. So you got a piping hot soup and then a nice gooey ice cream sundae and you've got yourself the ultimate comfort food meal.

When you talk about comfort food, grilled cheese is at the top of the list and for me the only thing better than a grilled cheese is a grilled cheese with a burger inside. This is known as the wow burger.

The wow burgers. That's great. That's my favorite. That's a hamburger inside a grilled cheese sandwich. So what can go wrong with that buttery grilled cheese nice and toasty and then a burger patty right in the middle with some crispy shoestring fries on the side.

When you take a bite you can say 'Wow'.

This place is all about nostalgia from the look to the menu and the turkey dinner is the perfect nostalgic meal makes you think back to your old Thanksgiving, the smell of fresh roasted turkey that is carved right in front of you. The homestyle gravy, a big old scoop of mashed potatoes with some carrots and some cranberry sauce just makes you feel like everything is okay in the world. And then you want some ice cream after.

Just come down. Enjoy relax, enjoy your ice cream, enjoy your food Enjoy your company with.

At the end of the day. This is the kind of place that just makes you smile. You can bring your kids you can bring your grandparents you can come for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or especially dessert because every meal at Cabot's is just plain sweet.
