Butter

Sorry, but it's true... Everything tastes better with butter! Phantom taste-test four popular brands to find out which one is at the Top of the Food Chain: Cabot, Kate’s, Kerrygold, and Land O'Lakes.
Kate’s Homemade Butter
A kid’s face is oddly plastered across the thick wrapper. But the butter speaks for itself, made with sea salt and churned in small batches. It’s light and rich, bursting with sweet cream flavor. And perfect for slathering all over a muffin. That’s why Kate’s is at the Top of the Food Chain.

Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter
The runner up is imported from Ireland. Wrapped in gold foil, this is no ordinary butter. It’s twice as wide as the standard stick, with an intense, gamey taste and silky texture. It’s the best butter for baking or melting down for lobster.

Cabot Butter
A step up. Made at a creamery in Vermont, it’s a bit waxy with a jolt of salt on the finish. Cabot is good for buttering bread or a hot piece of toast.

Land O’Lakes
Based on flavor, texture, and creaminess, Land O’Lakes butter scored the lowest of the bunch. It claims a special wrapper that keeps unwanted flavors out, but Phantom wasn’t sure it was worth protecting. The smooth butter had a muted flavor and pale color
