French Onion Soup, creamy Mac and Cheese, and sweet Blueberry Crisp.
If that makes you feel warm all over, run to Marathon Restaurant in Hopkinton.

Named after the famous race that starts at the town green, Marathon is one of Metrowest's newest restaurants, but for owners Michael and Megan Tobins it feels a lot like home.

Megan Tobins - Marathon: "What we tried to do when we made the menu was is come up with things that we like to eat at home."

And home cooking never tasted so good. Like that rich French Onion Soup, smothered with melted Swiss and Gruyere, and loaded with sweet caramelized onions.

Megan Tobins - Marathon: "Our French Onion soup is probably the best French Onion soup I've ever had, and I'm not saying that just because I own the restaurant, it's actually really really good."

And soup is just the start at Marathon. There are mussels prepared four different ways, including Cajun style with onions and Andouille. Crispy Calamari is bathed in an addictive sweet and spicy sauce. And the appetizer everyone goes crazy over is Marathon's two-bite take on the old fashioned Potato Skin.

Megan Tobins - Marathon: They're not like your typical kind of hollowed out, potato shell. We use the little Yukon Gold potatoes... they're delicious."

Jason Veilleux - Executive Chef, Marathon: "It still has the cheese, it still has the bacon, it still has the sour cream and the scallions. The ingredients that people know that are in a potato skin, but not quite the old potato skin that you're used to."

The comfort food menu is filled with soul satisfying dishes, like juicy burgers and handcut fries, lasagna topped with tomato meat sauce, and chargrilled steak served with caramelized onion mashed potatoes. But it's the Marathon Mac and Cheese that will make you want to carbo-load all season long.

Megan Tobins - Marathon: "It's nice and gooey, and cheesy, and exactly how you want that homemade Mac and Cheese feel to be. And it's got nice breadcrumbs on top which gives it that nice little crunch. So it's delicious."

And it's even better when you add a whole lot of lobster for just six bucks more.

Megan Tobins - Marathon: "Every bite, you'll probably get a piece of lobster in it. We didn't want to do just a little Mac and Cheese with little pieces of lobster in it, we wanted you to get the lobster experience of having Mac and Cheese, so we've got big juicy pieces of lobster in there."

No meal at Marathon should end without dessert, like the Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding, or the warm Blueberry Crisp topped with cool Vanilla ice cream.

Megan Tobins - Marathon: "Once you try it, it warms your belly, and on those cold days, when you're sitting next to the fireplace... it's the perfect after dinner treat."

From the starting gun to the finish line every dish is a winner, at Marathon, a Phantom Gourmet, Hidden Jewel.
