How does a simple seafood restaurant survive and thrive for over sixty years? Just ask the owner of George’s of Galilee in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
Kevin Durfee- Owner, George's of Galilee: “We're a waterfront seafood restaurant, we try to take traditional local fresh seafood and give it a little twist. Our lobsters are so fresh that our lobster suppliers actually walk here when they sell us our lobsters every day.”
The restaurant was founded by Kevin’s grandfather in 1948. It started out as tiny clam shack with just ten seats, and over the years, it grew and grew and grew.
Kevin Durfee- Owner, George's of Galilee: It has grown into a 500 seat two floor five dining room behemoth.”
Today, George’s takes full advantage of their prime location on the Block Island Sound and the fishing port of Galilee, serving up ultra-fresh littlenecks, fried clams, steamed lobster, and stuffed quahogs.
Kevin Durfee- Owner, George's of Galilee: It has become part of what makes Rhode Island unique: clam cakes, chowder, walks on the beach, frozen lemonade... it's really a must see, must do when you're visit Rhode Island.”
