Stylish atmosphere.
Beautiful people.
High design.
Amazing food.
Ivy Restaurant has everything you’d expect inside one of Boston’s newest hot spots, except high prices and uptight attitude.
Located in the ultra-trendy Ladder district, outside Downtown Crossing, Ivy makes dining out easy, affordable, and comfortable.
Ivy’s inexpensive menu features small plates of Italian comfort food. If you’re looking for the traditional line-up of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, you’ve come to the wrong place.
William Ashmore – Coordinator, Ivy Restaurant: “We’re trying to break away from having courses, we just simply want you to come in, eat, have fun, enjoy yourself, and mingle on your way.”
It’s a new approach to dining; you could even call it grazing. And it usually takes a little bit of explaining.
Adina Hepworth – Server, Ivy Restaurant: “What we do here at Ivy is kind of like a grazing menu. It’s like Italian tapas… We won’t let you over-order, we’ll bring things out a little at a time. We just keep brining the food until you say stop.”
Small plates are priced between six and twelve dollars. Sharing is encouraged, but the food is so good, you may not want to. Favorites include Seared Scallops with Pancetta… Gnocchi in a spicy marinara… Arancini stuffed with prosciutto and fontina… and a rich golden brick of Macaroni and Cheese with black truffle and gorgonzola.
Scott Fraley – GM, Ivy Restaurant: “Our chef has played with it a little bit using ingredients that give it a more luxurious feel, but it’s Mac and Cheese… When you come to Ivy the food you’re eating is food you grew up with, and you understand it.”
The food is familiar, and the prices are low, encouraging diners to sample, share, and enjoy.
William Ashmore – Coordinator, Ivy Restaurant: "It allows you to have a lot of different tastes throughout the dining experience, and that’s what we’re about."
Jodi Lava – Loves to Share Food: “It’s like a dream come true. It’s like being to dinner with my family. I get to eat off of everybody’s plate without feeling bad about it, so I love it.”
Megan Gillespie – Enjoys the Relaxing Experience: “It’s fantastic. Awesome atmosphere, excellent service, very relaxed dining experience. You’re not rushed, you could sit here with friends and spend hours and virtually try everything on the menu at a very reasonable price.”
Just like the food, the wine is affordable too. Every bottle is just twenty-five dollars, so customers can make their decision based on taste, not price.
William Ashmore – Coordinator, Ivy Restaurant: “If I’m sitting with a date, I don’t want to look too cheap and buy the cheapest bottle of wine, or look like I’m trying to show off and buy the most expensive. So we took that out of the equation, so again, more comfortable, every price of wine is at one price point. So now wine is about what it is, not what it costs, same thing with food, it’s just about eating, that’s it.”
Taking the fuss out of dining, and making everyone feel comfortable is what it’s all about at Ivy.
Adina Hepworth – Server, Ivy Restaurant: “It says on our menu, ‘Welcome to our home’ and we mean that. From the moment they sit down in their soft cushy chairs, we give them bread and water immediately. Someone is attending to their needs from the moment they walk in the door.”
And before they leave, Ivy has one more treat for the customer. Mini ice cream cones filled with authentic Italian gelato.
William Ashmore – Coordinator, Ivy Restaurant: “There is no charge for the gelato, it’s complementary. So the moment you’re done, you feel it’s time to go, we hit you with something sweet, and say thank you for coming.”
It’s a hot new restaurant with a whole new attitude. Ivy, a Phantom Gourmet… Hidden Jewel.
