PHANTOM APPROVED

If you’re looking for gourmet cuisine, a romantic dining room, and smooth service, DON’T go to the Lynwood Café. But if you want a simple slice of heavenly pizza with old school atmosphere, this IS your place!

Atmosphere: 6
The Lynwood Café in Randolph is a high energy watering hole that’s happily dated and cramped, with wood paneling, blond wood booths, and a serious collection of Budweiser decor. Take-out orders keep the place buzzing, while antique arcade games create a family friendly environment.
Menu: 7
The pizza menu is far from fancy, focusing on old school bar pies with a buttery smooth crust and a dozen classic toppings.
Appetizers: 6
Phantom started with a cold Bud and a bag of good and salty thin pretzels. Also from the bar, some Wachusett Potato Chips delivered ample crunch from a ripple cut, but skimped on the tangy sour cream and onion sprinkle.
Entrees: 9
Getting to THE reason to come to the Lynwood, the awesome pizza is stiff with greasy cracker crunch, cooked until well done for extra perimeter snap. Pepperoni slices added sensational zip to the wonderful cheese heft, and their curled edges created heavenly grease pools for extra flavor. The surprisingly delicious bean special pie added onion depth to an irresistible sweet-salty pairing of diced salami and maple kissed Boston baked beans.
Dessert: N/A
(Multiply X 1.1) There’s no dessert, which allows the taste sensation of the pizza to linger on the palate.
Portions: 8
Single serving pizzas come in a one-size-fits-all format of ten glorious inches lavished with toppings.
Service: 6
Service wasn’t exactly friendly, but Phantom would endure the hour-long wait any day for another slice of Lynwood pizza.
Cleanliness: 7
Cleanliness surpassed the expectations of the 50s décor; even the bathroom was fairly tidy and well stocked with hand soap.
Value: 9
Talk about good pizza for your dough. Pies cost just $5 to $8 with a cash-only policy.
Location: 7
The Lynwood Café is on Center Street in Randolph with an extended parking lot in the back.
